Shane Immelman

Shane is the founder of The Lapdesk Company www.lapdesk.co.za, a multi-national organisation specialising in the educational upliftment and development of underprivileged children across the continent of Africa, using a unique model of media and corporate intervention.

Shane is a social entrepreneur and his current interests include media, enterprise development and life skills development initiatives, all relating to development and upliftment of underprivileged African youth and women.

Shane is an inducted member of Endeavor (2006) www.endeavor.org and actively supports emerging market development programmes with the business schools of Harvard, MIT Sloan, Stanford, UNC Kenan-Flagler, and in Europe - INSEAD.

He has additionally been the recipient of the Proudly South African – New Business of the Year Award (2005) the South African iHeroes Grand Prix Award – 1st prize (2007) finalist in the Ernst & Young World Entrepeneur Awards (Social Category, 2008) is an inducted member of The African Leadership Institute (2008) a Desmond Tutu Fellow (Oxford, 2008) is presently completing the 2009 LINC Fellowship programme, and is a Schwab Foundation sponsored candidate to complete the Social Entrepreneurship programmes of both Stanford and INSEAD during 2009 and 2010 respectively.
