COMMUNICATION Communication is the key to the world; I believe that the value of something, of anything, of any form of knowledge is directly related to how well that knowledge can be translated through communication. You may know the secret to eternal youth or the cure for cancer but if you can’t verbalize the formula then what good is the knowledge. The same applies to everyday occurrences , the more clearly you can get you point across the more accurate the feedback will be , from ordering food , to discussing philosophy , it all comes down to translating what you are thinking into what you are saying in such a way that the two are one and the same. The next time you ask for something and don’t receive exactly what you want, look at how you asked for it, my bet is there was probably a clearer more concise way you could have tabled the question. It is for these reasons that I love the English language, there are a myriad of ways to say the same thing, why, because you are not actually saying the same thing, subtle differences count. The ability to say exactly what you mean , to translate your thoughts directly into words in such a way that leaves no room for misinterpretation is a skill very few people have and the benefits of which even fewer realize. Take time to really consider the meaning of the opening sentence of this wandering, that being “The value of anything is based solely and directly on how well it can be explained!”. You may say why solely?, well, whatever intrinsic value IT may hold is not available to the other party unless they first understand where or what IT is you are talking about. WOW, the power contained in that thought is incredible. Ever had an argument with your partner only to end up discovering that you were both trying to say the same thing? Ever followed “precise” directions and ended up completely lost? Ever failed someone you love because you just didn’t understand what it was they required of you? With proper communication none of the above would happen, you would communicate exactly what you were thinking and receive the exact results required, similarly in reverse, if something is communicated to you in the correct way you can take the exact appropriate action or assign the exact correct value. If this does not make complete sense to you, and even if it does but you just don’t buy it, it’s not because you don’t believe me, it’s probably because I have failed to explain it properly.
