Most conferences like these cost thousands of rands to attend. Why are you charging R175.00?

To start with, TEDxJohannesburg license allows us to charge $24.00, no more. TED does not pay speakers and neither do we, so that cost is not passed on to you. The TEDxJohannesburg organisers are volunteers and do not get paid either. We have very generous sponsors who, like the attendees, are passionate about TED and this is their way of contributing to ideas worth spreading.
